Bet you didn't know that these 10 Movies were Filmed in Boston!

10 Movies Filmed in Boston

If you’re a film fanatic like me, you probably know that the setting of the film is often
one of the most important details.  Boston, Massachusetts has long been a favorite
city for filmmakers due to its historic buildings and rich cultural background.  In fact,
some of my personal favorite movies were shot in Boston. Here are 10 movies that
you may not know were filmed in Boston.

10.  The Social Network

Perhaps one of David Fincher’s best films to date, The Social Network tells the true
story of how Facebook came to be, and the lawsuits that followed.  While the film is
supposed to be set at Harvard University (where Mark Zuckerberg was a student
during the time he created Facebook), the school denied most requests to film
on-location.  Most of the film’s scenes were shot on the campuses of Phillips
Academy and Milton Academy, with additional scenes being shot at Wheelock
College.

9.  Fever Pitch

Fever Pitch is a movie about a die-hard Red Sox fan, so it only makes sense
that the movie was filmed in Boston.  Filming locations include Fenway Park
and East Boston High School, as well as several other areas around the city.

8.  Mystic River

Critically-acclaimed crime film Mystic River was filmed in several different
parts of Boston, including Condor Street in East Boston, during a scene
where a young boy is abducted.  The Academy Award-winning film, directed
by Clint Eastwood, features plenty of blue-collarBoston real estate, and paints
a haunting portrait of a violent crime and the impact it has on a small Boston
neighborhood.

7.  The Boondock Saints

Cult classic action film The Boondock Saints split its filming between Boston
and Toronto, but its final scenes were all filmed in Boston.  The movie tells the
story of twin brothers who become vigilantes after killing members of the Russian
Mafia in self-defense. While the film only saw a limited theatrical release, it has
gained status as a cult-favorite since its 2000 release.

6.  Good Will Hunting

Academy Award-winning film Good Will Hunting tells the story of a mathematical
genius working as a janitor, whose abilities are discovered by an MIT professor.
Filming for the movie took place around the Greater Boston Area, and is still
recognized as one of the greatest films of all time.

5.  Love Story

Known for its famous scene in which Ryan O’Neal says “love means never having
to say you’re sorry”,1970’s romantic drama film Love Story frequently makes
appearances on lists of the greatest American films of all time.  Much of the film
was shot at Harvard University, where the two main characters first meet, as
well as several other locations in Boston.

4.  Shutter Island

Psychological thriller Shutter Island tells the story of a U.S. Marshal
(played by Leonardo DiCaprio) who sets out to investigate a psychiatric
hospital after a patient goes missing.  The film is primarily set on Shutter
Island in Boston Harbor, and the gloomy landscape lends to the overall
haunting nature of the film.

3.  Legally Blonde

Legally Blonde (one of my personal guilty pleasure movies) is about a sorority girl,
played by Reese Witherspoon, who decides to apply to Harvard University
after being dumped by her Ivy League boyfriend. While much of the movie was
filmed in Los Angeles, a few scenes were shot in and around Harvard’s campus.

2.  The Fighter

Biographical boxing film The Fighter tells the story of a professional boxer, played by
Mark Wahlberg, and his half-brother, played by Christian Bale.  The film was shot at
several locations around the Boston area, including the University of Massachusetts
and the West End Gym.

1.  The Departed

Martin Scorsese’s 2006 crime drama The Departed, a film about the Irish Mob, was
shot on location in Boston.  Filming locations include Suffolk University Law School
and the Lindemann Mental Health Center.

Valentia Night Revive Retinol Serum

Having great looking is very important to me so as I am getting older, it is essential for me to keep my skin looking young, supple, and wrinkle-free. We as women, as we age, our skin starts to become dull and looses elasticity. Having a good daytime and nighttime face cleansing regimen is great helping to keep your skin clear of pore clogging debris that can age your skin. I am going to be talking about a great serum that can be added to your nighttime regimen that can help to revive your skin.

Valentia Night Revive Retinol Serum

Valentia Night Revive Retinol Serum is a great product to add to your nighttime regimen. Retinol is an ingredient that should be used at night as opposed to your daytime regimen because it can make your skin sensitive to light. Retinol is great at stopping wrinkles so the earlier you start using this product the better! Retinol is also good at managing your breakouts (if you have any) or evening out skin discoloration. I don't have any of these issues, but it is good for me to start using this serum now so I am protecting my skin from getting wrinkles. Retinol can be a little drying on the skin so this serum also contains these awesome other ingredients that helps your skin as well to stay hydrated and moisturized like Vitamin C which helps protect your skin against environmental free-radicals to prevent premature aging, Vitamin E that provides the intense hydration to help diminish the drying effects of retinol, and Squalane which is derived from pure olive oil that will soften and condition your delicate skin.

I love to use this product right after I cleanse and tone my skin. I pat it into my skin for better absorption. I then use my eye gel and a moisturizer. This serum doesn't have a smell to me which is good for individuals who are sensitive to smell. When I pat on the serum, it doesn't sting or irritate my skin. When I wake up in the mornings, my skin feels soft and looks bright. This serum is made with natural ingredients which is a plus for me because I don't want anything harsh on my skin. This serum comes in a 1.18oz bottle with a dropper so that you are able to control how much of the serum to use.

Luv Michael Originola Review

I love to eat granola! Whether I am adding it to my oatmeal, yogurt, or eating it right out of the bag, I simply love it. I try my best to eat as healthy as I can and eating foods that are USDA Organic is really important to me because it assures me that the foods are genuinely certified organic. I also love to support important causes that are dear to me so I had the honor of reviewing a product that not only tastes good, but helps adults with Autism. I am currently in college working on my Bachelor's degree in Birth-Kindergarten and my teacher's license to be able to teach young children with and without special needs. Let me tell you about this amazing company called Luv Michael!

Luv Michael Originola

Michael Kessaris is the inspiration for the non-profit Luv Michael. He is an 18 year old with autism who has a passion for cooking. Finding a career was not easy for Michael, a Port Washington, New York native. Despite his love of cooking, Michael was unable to enroll in culinary school without a high school diploma. Michael’s parents, both physicians, Lisa Liberatore, MD and Dimitri Kessaris, MD, helped create the food based business so that their son and others with autism would be active participants in society and lead happy, productive lives.

The idea was born to make a healthy, quality product that could provide income and a career for both Michael and other individuals with autism. Education is critical to Luv Michael’s mission and a custom curriculum is being created to foster learning and teach key skills to help those enrolled become employable.

So far, success is sweet for Luv Michael. The 2-ounce snackable Originola Granola can be found in all New York Fresh & Co., Café Metro and Wild by Nature stores as well as select Starbucks and at local stores in Southampton, New York and throughout Delaware. Luv Michael is expanding daily with hopes of sharing the LUV in all 50 states.

At Luv Michael, they create snackable, granola using the finest organic ingredients. Every bite delivers just the right amount of yum and crunch to give you a tasty, healthy way to get through your day.

Each batch is hand mixed and packed by hard working individuals with Autism who we like to refer to as our “Granologists.” By empowering “Granologists” with living wages and independent life skills, we are able to deliver a product that tastes good and does good too.  Now how cool is this company!?

The granola tasted great! It was packaged well and all I did was break a piece off and ate it right out of the bag! It was crunchy and tasted sweet. I love that the Originola is Non-GMO, Gluten free, dairy free, nut free, and all organic ingredients. This was a 2oz package and is only 200 calories!  I love the fact that this company helps individuals with Autism. That is why I decided to go back to college so I can be licensed to teach so that young children with special needs can be taught so that they thrive to want to work and make their own money and I know that it starts with the foundation when they are young and I want to be apart of that.

I love that their mission statement is printed on the back of every bag! Their mission statement states, "Luv Michael produces the highest quality, gluten-free and nut-free granola, providing meaningful culinary jobs to the Autistic population." Let us help support meaningful companies that are truly making a difference in helping to create jobs for individuals with Autism! (( Share the luv ))

Valentia Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask Review

I would love to spend some time in a luxury spa getting a nice facial and being pampered but unfortunately, my budget says otherwise. I love a good facial that will keep my skin looking younger and glowing so once a week I give myself a nice face detox to cleanse my facial skin from the elements of the environment and to remove the dirt and oil that clog my pores that makes them enlarged. I was given the opportunity to try a detoxifying clay mask to get the job done.

Valentia Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask

Introducing Valentia's Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask. Here is some information about the company. The Roman Goddess of healing, Valentia, relied on nature’s gifts to heal the citizens of Umbria. Whether matriarchs seeking to maintain their youthful look or farmers seeking help for sun damaged skin, Valentia used berries, herbs, barks and other natural ingredients. We also rely on all natural ingredients due to their protective, preventative and corrective powers.

Just like our namesake, Valentia Skin Care products have been formulated with natural and organic cosmetic ingredients that will repair and protect the skin.

After performing extensive research into what skin care customers find most important, we found an overwhelming demand for skin care that is natural, free of toxins and paraben-free. Natural ingredients with an organic base have proven most effective at repairing skin damaged by sun or wind, preventing signs of aging such as wrinkles, dark spots, and reversing the effects of oxidative stress on the skin.

 Valentia Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask
Here is some information about the mask. Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask - Natural and Organic Ingredients - With Kaolin Clay, Hisbiscus & Cranberry Fibers

Specially selected ingredients work together to achieve optimum results.

KEY INGREDIENTS

- Kaolin Clay:Clay minerals draw impurities, improve skin tone, and tighten pores for smoother firmer skin.

- Plant Stem Cells:Naturally decreases the level of pro-aging toxins and works to soother the skin, reduce redness, and improve evenness.

- Spirulina:A botanical stimulant full of vitamins that hydrates the skins surface and contributes to tissue regeneration of the skin.

- CoQ10:Lessens the appearance of wrinkles by reducing free radical damage and stimulating health collagen production.

- Hibiscus & Cranberry Fibers:Both lend their anti-aging properties to firm and reinforce the skin, helping to reduce the creation of new wrinkles.

The mask was easy to put on my face and neck. I used a warm washcloth to open my pores after I cleansed my face with my cleanser. I used my fingers to spread the mask evenly on my face. The mask has a pleasant scent that is not overpowering at all which I love. I let the mask set for 20 minutes and as it dried, I felt my skin tightening. I then took my washcloth and rinsed in warm water and used circular motions to remove the mask. I usually just rinse my face in warm water but I wanted to follow the directions and use my warm washcloth to remove the mask. It was easy to remove as well and the mask left my skin soft and my pores noticeably smaller. I was pleasantly surprised! I did notice that right under my right eyebrow there was a little irritation. My facial skin is sensitive so I just figured it was from me using my washcloth to remove the mask which I have never done before. By the time I went to bed, the irritation was gone. My skin was not red after using the clay like with other masks and that is definitely a plus for me. I am totally impressed with this clay mask and it will be apart of my weekly cleanse regimen.
